Candles, snowflakes, and other signs of the holidays surround the text: "Winter Solstice- Yule- Brightly burns the yule log tonight - magic dances in firelight - hold my hand and join the song - raise the sun king bright and strong - dark is giving way to light - as brightly burns the yule log tonight".
The Yule Cross Stitch Pattern is part of the Wheel of the Year Series. This pattern measures 151 stitches wide by 190 stitches high. The cross stitch pattern spans 11 pages, and is printed single-sided, on unbound sheets in a clear plastic bag for protection. There is a color picture of the completed chart on the front page. The pattern itself is graphed in black and white symbols, and a table showing the DMC colors you'll need is included.
How much fabric do I need?
To calculate the amount of fabric you will need for your project, divide the number of stitches by the stitch count of the fabric you wish to use. The higher the count of your fabric, the smaller your piece will be. Some examples appear below. Remember to leave several additional inches as a border on each side, to facilitate framing your project when it is finished.
Fabric count | Approximate size of stitched area |
---|---|
14-count | 10 ¾" × 13 ½" |
18-count | 8 ½" × 10 ½" |
25-count | 6" × 7 ½" |

I bought a number of cross-stitch patterns at one time and was impressed with the packaging and clarity of all of them. This is the one that will be my first project. The pattern came in 9 separate numbered pages so that you could easily see the one part you were working on in large detail. I could even see it without my glasses which makes me very happy. However, I like to see the pattern all at once so I played like a kid with scissors and tape and made them all one big pattern that I could easily fold and still fit in a baggie for protection! I cannot wait to start this particular design and hope to have it done and framed by Winter Solstice. I will try to remember to come back and provide a picture once I'm done.
