What is the Tree of Life?

The Mayans, too, had legends of a great tree that connected Heaven, Earth, and the Underworld. To the Celts, it was "crann bethadh" - the embodiment of shelter and safety, connecting each tribe to the larger world, and also serving as a portal to hidden realms.
