Talk about atmosphere! You can almost feel the chill air and hear the cries of the crows. Torn and tattered, this old scarecrow is more friendly than frightening. Certainly the circling crows no longer see him as a threat. Wouldn't this make a great project for Halloween!
Only four colors of floss are needed for this creepy cross stitch pattern project. The design measures 146 stitches wide by 138 stitches high. It is printed on a single sheet of cardstock, and the front has a color photo of the finished design. The chart is graphed in black and white symbols. A table showing the DMC colors you'll need is included. This pattern calls for some backstitching and quarter stitches. You can stitch it on whatever evenweave fabric you prefer, of course, but this is a great excuse to try out a mottled grey hand-dyed fabric for the background. The instructions are printed on 6 loose sheets, in a resealable cellophane envelope for protection.
How much fabric do I need?
To calculate the amount of fabric you will need for your project, divide the number of stitches by the stitch count of the fabric you wish to use. The higher the count of your fabric, the smaller your piece will be. Some examples appear below. Remember to leave several additional inches as a border on each side, to facilitate framing your project when it is finished.
