This adorable little dragon is already hard at work on her next needlework project. There's just so much to love about this pattern! First, of course, is the text, which I think all stitchers can sympathize with: "My Stash is Full of Treasures; Now All I Need is Time". And isn't that the truth? If there only were more than 24 hours in a day, I'm sure I could get more stitching done!
The best part of this pattern, though, is how very versatile it is. The artists/designer for this piece, Jennifer Aikman-Smith of Dragon Dreams, has included multiple color charts for this piece, so you can customize the appearance of your dragon, using your favorite colors. There's even a blank color chart included with the pattern, so you can come up with a completely unique color scheme all your own.
This fantasy cross stitch design measures 78 stitches wide by 117 stitches high. The instructions are on 6 unbound pages, in a ziplock bag for protection. The design calls for using some specialty flosses.
How much fabric do I need?
To calculate the amount of fabric you will need for your project, divide the number of stitches by the stitch count of the fabric you wish to use. The higher the count of your fabric, the smaller your piece will be. Some examples appear below. Remember to leave several additional inches as a border on each side, to facilitate framing your project when it is finished.
Fabric count | Approximate size of stitched area |
---|---|
14-count | 5 ½" × 8 ¼" |
18-count | 4 ¼" × 6 ½" |
25-count | 3" × 4 ¾" |
